Medicine Price Unit
This unit was formed in December 2004 with the following objectives:
- To conduct a survey on the price of medicines in order to obtain information on the trend of medicines price in the market
- To obtain the price structure of Medicines in Malaysia
- To create a medicines price database system
- To disseminate information on medicines price to professionals within health sector as well as the consumers
Price monitoring activities was started since 2006 to obtain medicines price trend in Malaysia. Until now, there have been 6 sets of data have been collected. This survey involves 105 types of medicines at 47 different premises under the Ministry of Health and a total of 47 private premises within East Malaysia and West Malaysia. The details are as follows:-

From the analysis done on the data collected during Phase 1 of the survey in March 2006, the first edition of MyMedPrice was published. It is also downloadable from www.pharmacy.gov.my. The second edition of MyMedPrice, which includes the analysis of all 4 phases of data collected in 2006, will be published soon. A database on medicines prices is still in progress.
