NMP Monitoring and Implementation
MALAYSIAN NATIONAL MEDICINES POLICY (MNMP)
The MNMP is a guide for action. It outlines the national pharmaceutical aims, the priority of these aims and strategies toward achieving them. The MNMP will ensure that there will be safe, efficacious and good quality drugs with affordable prices for those who need them. It will cover all pharmaceutical sectors and the roles of those involved in this sector. It will involve the Government acting on behalf of the public’s interests, those who use drugs, prescribers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers. For the MNMP to succeed, an open and transparent dialogue is needed among all those who have a stake in the pharmaceutical sector.
Policy 8 of the MNMP states that:
All stakeholders shall be committed to the successful implementation of the is to ensure that the MNMP is implemented successfully.
The following strategies are taken to ensure that the implementation of the MNMP is successful:
i. Develop a Master Action Plan
ii. Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of the MNMP
Functions of the NMP Unit
The MNMP Unit coordinates the development of the Master ACtion Plan, monitors indicators and action plans; compiles, evaluates and presents data to the Secretariat and Technical Committee.
The Secretariat of the NMP will act as:
i. The Secretariat for the MNMP Steering Committee
ii. As the liaison body between the various committees and the Steering Committee
iii. As secretariat on all other issues related to the NMP, above and beyond the scope of the other committees
